Legendary actor-comedian Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri, popularly known by his screen name Jagdeep, breathed his last on July 8 in Mumbai. He was 81. Jagdeep started his film journey as a child artist in director BR Chopra's 1951 film Afsana. He went on to work in more films like Ab Dilli Door Nahin, Munna, Aar Paar and Do Bigha Zamin as the child actor. He has appeared in more than 400 films.

Veteran playback singer SP Balasubramaniam passed away on Friday at a Chennai hospital. Balasubramaniam, popularly known as SPB, was admitted to MGM Healthcare on August 5 for COVID-19, and had been on life support due to his extremely critical condition in the last few days.

Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan passed away after a cardiac arrest on July 3. She was 71. Khan had complained of breathing, following which she was admitted to Mumbai's Guru Nanak Hospital. One of the most prolific choreographers of the Hindi film industry, Khan, fondly called Masterji in Bollywood, had called the shots in over 2000 songs spanning over three-and-a- half decades.

Bollywood actor Asif Basra was found hanging in a private complex in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. While the cause of death is not known yet, it is suspected to be a case of suicide. The 53-year-old actor was a part of movies like Black Friday, Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, Kai Po Cho, Krrish 3, Ek Villain, Hichki. He was last seen in the web series Hostages 2.

After battling cancer for 2 years, Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30 at the age of 67. It was also suspected that the actor was admitted to the hospital due to a possible pneumonia infection. Though it was not officially confirmed by the actor's family.

Actor Jagesh Mukati died in Mumbai on June 10, due to complications arising from asthma and obesity. He was 47. Mukati worked in several Hindi and Gujarati television shows and movies. He played a supporting role in last year’s successful Gujarati film, Chal Jeevi Laiye. He was also a part of the Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra-starrer, Hasee Toh Phasee (2014).

Kannada star Chiranjeevi passed away on June 7, due to cardiac arrest at the age of 39. Chiranjeevi Sarja, the grandson of noted Kannada actor Shakti Prasad and nephew of multilingual film actor Arjun Sarja, had acted in 22 films. Chiranjeevi had made his debut with the movie 'Vayuputra,' which was a home production of Sarja family. His recent movie was 'Shivarjuna' where he starred along with Amrutha Iyengar and Akshatha Srinivas in the lead.

Noted Urdu poet and Bollywood lyricist, Rahat Indori breathed his last at a hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on August 11. He had tested positive for COVID-19 on August 10. A doctor at Sri Aurobindo Hospital said Indori suffered two heart attacks.

Sahabzade Irfan Ali Khan, known professionally as Irrfan Khan or simply Irrfan, was an Indian actor who worked in Hindi cinema as well as British and American films. The 54-year-old actor breathed his last on April 29. He was admitted to Dhirubhai Ambani hospital with a colon infection. The actor had been battling neuroendocrine tumour for several years and had been under medical attention. Irrfan knew how to balance commercial films such as "Hindi Medium", "Angrezi Medium" and "Life In A Metro", along with critically acclaimed ones like "Maqbool", "Paan Singh Tomar" and "Qissa".

Veteran actor Ravi Patwardhan, best known for starring in the Marathi show Aggabai Sasubai and 1980s Hindi films like Tezaab and Ankush, died on December 5 following a massive heart attack, his elder son Niranjan Patwardhan said. Ravi Patwardhan, whose career in the entertainment industry spanned about four decades, was rushed to Jupiter Hospital in Thane after he complained of breathlessness. He was 84.

Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat has passed away in Hyderabad. He was 50. He'd been suffering from Liver Cirrhosis for the past two years. Kamat, who was admitted to Hyderabad's AIG Hospitals since July 31, succumbed to his illness at 4:24 pm on August 17.

Bollywood actor Faraaz Khan, who was known for his stint in Mehendi movie, breathed his last on November 4. On October 14, it was revealed that Faraaz suffered three consecutive seizures owing to a herpes infection in his brain that had spread from his chest.
