Just as summer begins to approach the city, in a major concerning news for Mumbaikars, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday evening, March 1, announced 15 per cent water cut till further instructions.

According to a statement released by the BMC, the water cut has been imposed after the 15-megawatt power station of Bhatasa dam, one of the lakes which supply water to Mumbai, has developed a technical snag.

However, it will take some time to repair and restore the water supply. Owing to this, there will be disruption in the water supply to Mumbai, said BMC officials.

As per the civic body, a water cut will be in effect till the problem at the power station gets resolved. Therefore, the civic body officials made an appeal to cooperate with the administration by storing the water and use it sparingly.

Meanwhile, a water pipeline burst in Andheri on the Link Road near Citi Mall yesterday, March 1. This reportedly led to immense traffic congestion and also impacted the water supply at Mumbai's Andheri and its nearby areas. However, the water supply was restored on Wednesday morning, March 2.
