The most important part of this is that the BMC has now decided to purchase one lakh antigen test kits that report the testing for coronavirus in only half an hour. Corporate houses and private companies have also been advised to test their employees by purchasing rapid testing kits as per the recent approval of the government. Mission Universal Testing Mission now aims to reach and test every symptomatic citizen and take measures to bring the coronavirus under control in the state.
The BMC has decided to purchase 1 lakh government-approved antigen test kits. These test kits are said to made available soon. The test kits will be used in all Mumbai municipal hospitals, government hospitals as well as the treatment centres for coronavirus. This will speed up the process of preventing infection by immediately testing suspects. Moreover, one medical lab has been attached to each of BMC's 24 divisional offices. However, such individuals in the high-risk group may test themselves in laboratories in addition to laboratories attached to department offices.
Under the Mission Universal Testing, the BMC will make antigen kits available at all civic and state-run hospitals. IS Chahal, the BMC Commissioner, has also requested 35 private hospitals to buy these kits from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) approved SD Biosensor company. The civic body has further stated that people above 70 years of age can now easily get tested without prescription. These citizens can get tested with the help of e-prescription as there is no requirement for physical prescription now to treat the novel coronavirus.
