Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra are decreasing, however, cases in Mumbai have not seen a big difference. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, through its various measures, is trying to gain control over the spread of COVID19.

Data released by the state health department shows that as of Sunday, November 1, the city had a total of 908 new patients, and 25 people died due to COVID19 infection, and this has increased worries for the local administration. At present, Mumbai ranks second among coronavirus cases in the state.

Besides this, the state government and civic body have also succeeded in improving the recovery rate thereby controlling the spread of coronavirus. As per reports, the current COVID-19 recovery rate has risen to 90 per cent in the last 24 hours. The city on Sunday, November 1, reported 25 deaths, and this figure has dropped from the number of deaths reported earlier on October 31, whereby 33 people passed away from COVID19.

With the newly added cases, the patient count in Mumbai has now reached over 2.58 lakh. Moreover, 1716 people have recovered from COVID-19 taking the tally to more than 2.29 lakh patients. This increase in recovered cases has brought a sigh of relief to the citizens and the administration

To control the situation further, the state has made sure that adequate stocks of medicines and kits are available across Maharashtra, and the hospitals do not face a shortage in these matters. The information was communicated by the minister in a letter addressed to the respective departments.

The Department of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) controls the sale, distribution and stockpiling of these drugs. In a recently published report, officials had shared information about the black market for the drugs, and keeping this in mind, thereby with an aim to control the same, FDA has made sure the information on availability, use and balance of the drug Remdesivir is available in each district and is monitored by the administration. Currently, as per regulations, distribution of this medicine is allowed only to hospitals and institutions.

The administration has also taken action in some cases of confiscation. Raids and crimes have been registered against those involved and the accused have been arrested by the police. To gain further control, the administration has set up a 24x7 control room at the FDA headquarters, where one can reach out to the officials and complaint when in need. The team is reachable on 022-26592364 or on the toll-free number 1800 222 365. However, if any patient is not getting Remdesivir injection or is facing blackmail due to the drugs, they can contact the concerned FDA office or the control room number to help in getting the drug. Appropriate action will also be taken if the officials receive any black market-related complaint. Information regarding the same was shared by the Joint Commissioner through a letter.
