As Mumbai witnessed heavy rainfall overnight, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the city and its suburbs is likely to see moderate to heavy rainfall in the next 48 years today, September 16.
Moreover, there is a possibility of heavy to heavy rainfall in the isolated areas. Parts of Mumbai have been witnessing rains in the past few days leading to waterlogging.
Since morning, Dadar, Goregaon, Andheri, Goregaon, Santacruz, Powai, Khar witnessing heavy rain. More rain activity expected through the day said MET department officials.
On the other hand, Skymet predicted rainfall activity for a few more days. While nothing heavy is expected for the next 3-4 days, the city can see moderate rains over the city. Cloudy skies, intermittent showers with breaks in between will be a regular pattern for the capital city of Maharashtra in the coming few days.
Besides, heavy rains overnight, caused inundation in some low lying areas like Sion, but the problem did not persist for long as the water receded after the rain intensity reduced in the morning, said officials.
In the 24-hour period, the city received 41.20 mm rainfall, while the eastern and western suburbs recorded 39.89 mm and 39.04 mm rainfall, respectively.
Meanwhile, Mumbaikars get a relief of sigh from the scorching heat. Moreover, the minimum temperature also dropped down to 24.8 degrees Celsius at IMD’s Santacruz and Colaba observatory.
Whereas the maximum temperature was recorded at 30.1 degrees Celsius and 29.4 degrees Celsius at Santacruz and Colaba observatory.
