Aaditya Thackeray, Shiv Sena MLA, recently took to Twitter to state that the Yuva Sena has written to the Union Cabinet Minister for Human Resource Development, Doctor Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, to replicate the Maharashtra Model for final year exams for non-professional courses for all States across the country.



Varun Sardesai, the Secretary of Yuva Sena stated that, with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the safety and wellbeing of all the students and education fraternity is extremely important. He further added that as directed by the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the Department of Higher and Technical Education announced the cancellation of final year examinations of higher education. It was decided to promote students based on their performance of the previous semester and internal exams by a notification issued on June 19 keeping the pandemic in mind.

Sardesai further said that the announcement came as a big relief for the students who faced immense pressure due to the uncertainty of the situation. Sardesai requesting the Centre said that this move would relieve the students of the immense stress that they are going through these uncertain times, strengthening and securing their future career options.

Aaditya Thackeray, speaking on the matter, asserted that the CM has already written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking advice, as these are regular examinations and the students must not lose out on careerist opportunities in the future.

On Wednesday, June 24, Mumbai reported 69,625 cases of coronavirus with 28,653 active COVID-19 cases in the state of Maharashtra. The number of recovered soared to 37,010 after 2,434 patients were discharged in the day. Meanwhile, 38 deaths due to the coronavirus were reported on Wednesday, propelling Mumbai's fatality toll to 3962. 82 deaths from the previous period were also added to the overall death tally. Mumbai currently has 70,878 cases of COVID-19.
