Death threat issued to NCP leader Sunil Tatkare

NCP leader Sunil Tatkare has been listed by the Congress-NCP alliance to contest Lok Sabha poll from Raigad

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in April this year, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) National Secretary Sunil Tatkare has received a death threat. The Congress-NCP alliance has fielded Tatkare to contest LS poll from Raigad constituency in Maharashtra.

The unnamed letter issuing a death threat to the NCP leader was sent at his public relations office situated in Mhasla, Raigad. The letter, in Marathi, was dated February 27. After this, NCP’s District President for Minority Department, Nazim Hasvare reported the same to Mhasla police station and registered a complaint.

The purported letter named a Balasaheb Bhausaheb Satpute who has a criminal background and is from a village in Ahmednagar district. According to the letter, some people who have a previous rivalry with Tatkare have planned to get rid of him.

The party workers demanded the police to arrest the accused as soon as possible and take strong action against them. However, the police have tried to maintain calm among the leaders in the district.
