Ockhi Cyclone: Mumbai rains live updates
Mumbai’s Meteorological (MET) Department had expressed concerns regarding heavy rains in many areas of Maharashtra including Mumbai. The department has estimated it to be six hours long. Below are the LIVE updates about Mumbai Rains, local train services, waterlogging, traffic updates and more.
Cyclone Ockhi originated 870 km south-west of Mumbai on 4th December and is moving towards the southern coast of Gujarat. as a precautionary measure, the State Government ordered all schools around in the coastal districts to remain shut. With thunderstorm alerts issued by the IMD, here are the live updates from Mumbai:
Bandra-Worli Sea Link not affected. Do not believe unconfirmed news about the Sea Link being shut. Flights from CSIA are however delayed by 40 minutes.
Medium to heavy rains continue as the cyclone approaches the Mumbai, around 400 km away. The BMC has made arrangements for devotees of Dr. Ambedkar in some public schools in the Dadar area. Their living arrangements in Shivaji Park have been disrupted due to the rains. Every year lakhs of people from across the country come to Dadar's Chaitya Bhoomi to pay their respects.
High tide in Bombay at 12:39pm. Some part of Mumbai suburbs experience water logging. Central Railway running 20 minutes late. Intermittent rains predicted by the weather department for the next 24 hours, with situation likely to intensify. The cyclone has claimed over 20 lives in the southern Indian states and has caused some serious damage to property. Fishermen along the Mumbai-Konkan coast have been instructed to suspend operations for the day.
