“Agriculture” is to soon be inculcated as a subject in Maharashtra schools, cites reports. The state government has instructed the Maharashtra State Council For Education And Training Institute (MSCERT) and the Maharashtra Council Of Agriculture, Education And Research (MCAER) to come together to prepare the syllabus for the same.

On Wednesday, a joint meeting was conducted between the school education and agriculture department wherein the said decision was undertaken. The meeting included the presence of Varsha Gaikwad and Dadaji Bhuse, along with other senior administers.

Based on reports, Bhuse is said to have elaborated on the fact that the integration of agriculture as a subject in schools, won’t just lead to an interest in the agricultural industry in students, but also lead to agricultural commitment in the hinterland. All of this, while leading to an atmosphere of social commitment for the farmer brotherhood, he said.

Apart from this, Gaikwad, according to narratives stated that both the agriculture and education departments will work in cohesion to curate the curriculum. She is said to have elucidated that both departments have been given instructions to develop the syllabus, whilst keeping in mind student’s age and intelligence, mentioned accounts.
