Bhandup - Corporator Mangesh Pawar was on Thursday admitted in the Wockhardt Hospital as he complained of chest pain during campaigning for his wife who is a BJP candidate from ward no. 111 in Bhandup.
According to inforation, Mangesh Pawar who got elected as an independent corporator had become a co-opt member of the BJP in the BMC. Pawar’s wife Sarika Pawar has been given a ticket by the BJP from his ward. On Thursday, Pawar was participating in a pad yatra when he suddenly felt pain in the chest. He was immediately taken to Wockhardt Hospital where he is undergoing medical treatment. His condition is said to be stable.
Pawar’s wife is facing a stiff competition from this ward as the NCP has fielded BMC group leader Dhananjay Pisal’s wife Bharati Pisal from this ward. Shiv Sena candidate Sanjivani Vishwas Tupe is also posing a challenge to Pawar. Except Pawar, all candidates from this ward are from Kanjur Marg locality.
Meanwhile, a religious programme was organised in this ward and candidates from the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP had attended this programme. The Kirtankar appealed the participants to vote for the Shiv Sena and due to this, BJP and NCP candidates had left the venue. As per grapevine in the area, the Sena candidate has taken a lead in the campaigning though the prestige of current corporators – Mangesh Pawar and Dhananjay Pisal – is at stake.
