While the monsoon reached Mumbai on June 14 but the rainfall had been scattered around the city. However, today most places in Mumbai got rainfall. To know more about the weather for the city today and the forecast for the weekend, the team of Mumbai Live got in touch with GP Sharma, President, Meteorology at Skymet Weather.

GP Sharma, speaking about the weather conditions stated, “Things are going to ease out after today. Extremely heavy rainfall was witnessed today for an hour or so in some areas, particularly in Mahim, Chembur, Sion, this pocket, including Santa Cruz. The rainfall was moderate to very heavy and looks like it is going to continue for the next few hours. It is going to continue till nighttime, although there could be some breaks in between. I expect the rainfall to touch today, at least for the first time in this season about 100mm in 24 hours. The three-digit rainfall that we keep talking about might be possible today,” further speaking about the weekends said that, “I feel it is going to ease out tomorrow. The weekend should only witness the normal Mumbai rains,”

Sharma further added that “Humidity will remain. If it is not raining, it will be uncomfortable as the humidity in Mumbai does not drop below 50 per cent in the afternoons anytime. When it is raining it is above 90 per cent. If it does not rain, it will be warm and humid, but with today’s rainfall, I expect some relief, the comfort levels should be good for some time now. I expect this to ease out tomorrow itself and then Saturday and Sunday should just be normal. Mumbai always has one or two showers in some pocket or the other during the monsoon and that will be there but this situation that is right now will ease out.”

The city of Mumbai experiences its first solid showers of the season with Ghansoli receiving 75mm of rainfall, Bandra 48mm, Mahim70mm, Chembur West 75mm, Phoenix Market city 51mm. Jatin Singh, the founder of Skymet, took to Twitter to confirm the same.
