Here’s what happened at Anjuman-I-Islam’s Annual Day 2017

The students of Anjuman-I-Islam’s Saif Tyabji Girls’ Primary, Secondary and Junior College along with Anjuman-I-Islam’s Begum Sharifa Kalsekar Girls’ English Primary and Secondary School, Mumbai Central, put up a commendable show, replete of entertaining performances at Nehru Centre Auditorium

Anjuman-I-Islam’s Saif Tyabji Girls’ Primary, Secondary and Junior College along with Anjuman-I-Islam’s Begum Sharifa Kalsekar Girls’ English Primary and Secondary School, Mumbai Central, celebrated their Annual day on December 12, 2017, at the Nehru Centre Auditorium, Mumbai. 

The vision of Anjuman-I-Islam is to create the highest standard of learning through the 21st Century Pedagogy, by which one can gain knowledge and skills encompassing a wide range of discipline, resulting in the overall development of an individual and preparing the students for the future. 

The theme for the annual day was ‘Discover Yourself- Every child is a Star and deserves the right to shine' which was presented meticulously by students from different grades.

Great excitement and hurried activities were visible all around. The prize-winners and those who were participating in the programme to be presented on the day were especially elated. Even those who are not actively, involved are excited to have a study-free day filled with amusement.

The dignitaries who were present for this event were, Dr Zahir Kazi, President of Anjuman-I-Islam, Municipal councilor Raees Shaikh, MA Khan, the CEO of Haj Committee as well as Milind Deora, ex-MP of Lok Sabha.

The event began with the blessings of Almighty followed by the Anjuman Anthem 'Tarana e Anjuman'.

The morning commenced with the welcome address, followed by a mellifluous welcome song by the primary students. The Primary students of Begum Sharifa Kalsekar danced to the inspiration tune of 'Barbie’s Shooting Stars’ with colourful props. The audience was enthralled by the colourful and very well directed dance performance.

The school choir put up a soulful rendition based on a theme, they believe there is a "little light" inside each of us that makes each us special. The play “Talash” which was one of the highlights of the function emphasised that boldness is needed to bring about a change and bold actions to accelerate a positive change in the status of women. The vibrancy, with which the story was conceptualised through props, enthralled the audience who could only watch spellbound as the children came on stage to exhibiting their innate talents with their confident performances.

The stage was all set for the much-awaited children’s performance on the tragic play “Rostam and Sohrab”. The students took the audience on a 10th- century Persian  journey  through wonderland with their connecting pieces of expressive narration and dramatisation with sets that justified the play

Music filled the air as the  Primary kids presented the Qawali a high on energy by students of Saif Tyabji school.

Throughout the two hour show of excellence, the students resplendent in various costumes enraptured the audience with their message driven cultural programs which were well thought off, prepared and presented.

The students were awarded certificates and trophies for academic excellence and in their outstanding performance in sports and the grades they achieved in extracurricular activities. The dignitaries distributed prizes and congratulated the students on their best performance and advised them to continue their efforts to achieve their goals in life.

The function ended with an inspirational speech by the president, Dr.Zahir Kazi followed by the national anthem.
