On Wednesday, November 17, Maharashtra attained the mark of inoculating 7 crore citizens with at least the first jab against COVID-19, highlighted reports. Through this mark, Maharashtra has covered almost 78 per cent of those eligible with the first jab.

This makes the state second only to Uttar Pradesh when it comes to administering the highest first doses in India. Based on accounts, from those eligible to be inoculated in the state, which is a population of 9.1 crore, 38 per cent have been completely inoculated.

On the other hand, Maharashtra has been given the target of administering the first dose of the vaccine to its entire adult population by the end of this month. Amid this deadline given by state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, narratives claim that the daily vaccination numbers aren’t holding much sway.

According to certain reports, the daily numbers at vaccination centres is nearly 6.5-7 lakh. Additionally, more people are believed to have visited the centres to receive their second jab and not the first.

Similarly, Mumbai too is seeing a fall in the vaccination numbers. On Wednesday, 57,742 individuals got inoculated at civic-run centres, of which almost 45,000 took the second jab.
