According to a latest development, it has come to light that the viewing deck at Malabar Hill in South Mumbai, which was shut for nearly two years owing to pandemic, is all set to reopen for public from next week.

Also known as Pramod Nawalkar viewing gallery, which was the first ever viewing gallery being ever built for tourists and locals, offers a panoramic view of Chowpatty beach, Nariman Point and the Queen’s Necklace with its shimmering lights at night.

This also comes as all COVID-19 restrictions have been relaxed and all public places such as beaches and gardens were reopened since last month.

Moreover, this year, two more viewing decks were inaugurated by the Tourism and Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray. However, tourists visiting the Hanging garden, Kamala Nehru Park are still not able to see the viewing gallery. Therefore, Dilip Naik, ex-corporator wrote to Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal in this regard.

If reports are to be believed the viewing gallery was shut down as it needed to be sanitised regularly during the pandemic. This place is maintained by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) hydraulic department.

Located next to Kamala Nehru Park, the deck was inaugurated in October 2018. It is large enough to accommodate 50 people at a time. It also has four big binoculars.
