“The one who disrespects their own grandchild, how will they give respect to the Maratha community?” Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nilesh Rane launched an attack on Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar after the latter suggested that Udyanraje Bhosale and Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje should get the Maratha reservation issue resolved through BJP.
“It is surprising that Mr. Pawar made such a statement ...The one who disrespects their own grandchild, how will they give respect to the Maratha community? From this statement, the Maratha community came to know that Pawar Saheb and Mahavikas Aghadi will not do the right thing for Maratha reservation,” Rane tweeted in Marathi.

Moreover, BJP MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar said that his party is committed to the issue of Maratha reservation. “We will try our best,” he added.
BJP leaders Udyanraje Bhosale and Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje, both are from the family of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and are members of the Rajya Sabha. Pawar had targeted them saying that they should get the Maratha reservation issue resolved through BJP.
“Both the leaders should put pressure on the BJP government at the centre. They can do this as both of them were elected to Rajya Sabha because of BJP. If there is a need to agitate, both of them should also lead the same,” Pawar said.
Meanwhile, Sambhajiraje informed that he was the first member of Parliament to raise the issue of Maratha reservation. He has also demanded that all government should be postponed until the final result is out on the Maratha reservation issue.
NCP MP Supriya Sule has also praised Sambhajiraje for raising the Maratha reservation issue in the Parliament. Moreover, Udyanraje Bhosale has also threatened to resign from his post as an MP over the issue of Maratha reservation.
