Mumbai Police on Tuesday arrested former journalist Ketan Tirodkar for uploading a defamatory tape about a senior leader of the state on social media. He was produced in court and remanded in police custody till May 17.
Tirodkar was arrested last week in an old case, an official said. In that case he was alleged to have made some defamatory remarks. Earlier this month, he was arrested in connection with a crime registered by the cyber police in connection with a video he uploaded.
While in judicial custody, he was transferred to the crime branch's custody related to an FIR by the cyber police regarding a video he released earlier this month. The video contained allegations of government officials' links to drug networks. He also threatned to commit suicide.
