The pollution control department of Thane Municipal Corporation has checked the air quality of the city and it has been revealed that the air quality index in the city is between 65 and 85. Due to the measures taken by the municipality to prevent air pollution and changes in the environment, the degraded air level in the city is now seen to be improving and the air quality in Thane city is now in the satisfactory category.


A few days before Diwali last year, air quality levels in Mumbai, Thane and surrounding cities had deteriorated. Taking cognizance of this, the Bombay High Court directed the municipalities to take measures. According to this, the Thane Municipal Corporation issued notices to the construction projects and gave instructions to prevent dust pollution. Punitive action was initiated against the violators. Punitive action is being taken against those who pollute by burning garbage in public places in the city.

At the same time, the roads in the city were being washed with water. Apart from this, a comprehensive cleanliness drive was being implemented in the city. In this, roads and alleys are being cleaned. Its positive results were seen a few days ago. The air quality index in the city had reached 130. Due to this, air was recorded in the medium group. After that, it has come to light that the air quality index in the city is between 65 and 85.


Due to this, the degraded air level in the city is seen to be improving somewhat and the air quality in Thane city is now seen to be in the satisfactory category.
