Pune Gets Its Second 24x7 'Restaurant on Wheels'

In an innovative initiative to gain popularity among travelers, Central Railway (CR)’s Pune division on Wednesday, November 22, opened its second ‘restaurant-on-wheels’.

With this, Punekars will now be able to enjoy delicious food at affordable rates in a coach restaurant at Pune railway station.

Based on the Railways’ food-on-wheels concept, it was inaugurated under the guidance of divisional railway manager Indu Dubey, additional divisional railway manager Brijeshkumar Singh, and other senior officials. It is located on the side of Tadiwala road circulating area near Pune Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office at Pune railway station.

Rail Coach Restaurant started at Pune station from 22/11/23. It's an innovative initiative gaining popularity among travellers.

The first restaurant in Pune division was opened at Chinchwad railway station in December 2022.

Features:

• Built on an area of 100 square meters
• It will be managed and operated by OAM Industries India Pvt. Ltd. (Haldirams).
• The air-conditioned restaurant will be a fine-dining place offering a unique experience to diners. The interior of the restaurant is based on rail-themed settings.
• It will remain open 24x7 and serve the delicious food ensuring best quality round the clock.
• It will accommodate 10 tables that could accommodates 40 patrons.
• The takeout counter is designed to assist passengers in swiftly collecting their orders and ensuring they board their train punctually.
• Installation process of similar restaurants have been commenced at Akurdi, Baramati, and Miraj stations.
• The railways will receive an impressive annual revenue of INR 60,00,000 through this contract, reports stated.
