In a latest development, it has come to light that Mumbai Metro 1 services will remain suspended between Jagruti Nagar and Ghatkopar Metro Stations, from 6:00 pm today, May 15, till further notice due to security reasons. However, metro services will be available from Jagruti Nagar towards Versova.

This development comes in the view of roadshow held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ghatkopar ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, which is slated for May 20 in Mumbai.

It is pertinent to note that this shut down of metro during peak hours on a working day is likely to cause chaos and inconvenience among office going commuters.

“Commuters are requested to plan their journey accordingly. Inconvenience is regretted," said Mumbai Metro in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova Metro service provides a major connectivity between the eastern and western suburbs. More than three lakh commuters use the Metro services daily.

Additionally, several roads will also be closed in Ghatkopar for the same purpose.
