To benefit the buyers with vegetables at lowers prices, Maharashtra State Agriculture Marketing Board (MSAMB) has started the weekly market. This market takes place every Sunday in the Vidhan Bhavan area. This was initiated by MSAMB to connect farmers directly with the buyers. However, this is getting expensive for the farmers who are spending more on travel and toll than selling vegetables. This was done to sell vegetables at cheaper rates but because of high expenses, the farmers are selling vegetables at different rates to rake profit. People from South Mumbai to Borivali visit this market. Farmers bring vegetables from Nashik, Pune & Junnar. Initially, there were 45 vegetable sellers and now only 35 sellers are left. Farmers are welcoming the move but are tired of high expenses.
