The Mumbai Flower Festival will take place at the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Botanical Garden and Zoo in Byculla from tomorrow, February 6, to 8, 2026. The three-day festival is organised by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Tree Authority. Admission to the festival is free. The garden will be open each day from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
The festival will begin on the morning of February 6 with the opening ceremony. It is an annual event that has become a popular winter tradition in Mumbai. This year marks the 29th edition of the festival. Over the past 28 years, the garden has hosted the event. Previous festival themes have included the "animal kingdom", "aquatic life", "our Mumbai", "cartoons", and last year’s theme of "national symbols".
Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani and Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Dr Avinash Dhakane are overseeing the festival. The festival is expected to display about 5,000 plants. Visitors can see a variety of vibrant floral plants, seasonal flowers, fruit saplings, medicinal plants, and ornamental species. Families, gardeners, and nature lovers will be able to explore biodiversity and learn about plant care in a fun setting.
In addition to the plant displays, several stalls will be set up. These stalls will offer gardening tools, pots, soil mixes, fertilisers, and other horticultural products. Workshops on gardening will also be held from February 6 to 8.
The workshops will provide guidance on gardening, plant care, and the right kind and amount of fertiliser to use. They will cover trees, climbers, and saplings. The workshops are designed to give both beginners and experienced gardeners practical knowledge. The BMC has invited residents to enjoy the festival and take advantage of the no fee entry.
