In a decisive move against illegal occupation of public land, the Mumbai Suburban Administration conducted a large-scale anti-encroachment operation along the GhatkoparMankhurd Link Road, successfully reclaiming approximately 11 acres of government land.

The drive, described as one of the most extensive in recent times, resulted in the demolition of over 1,200 unauthorised structures in a single day. The operation was carried out under the supervision of District Collector Saurabh Katiyar, who emphasized the administration’s commitment to protecting public property and preventing illegal land use.

The encroachments had come up on government land at Mankhurd (Taluka Kurla, Survey No. 1/2 Part) without any legal authorization. Acting on this, authorities coordinated a multi-departmental response to restore the land to its rightful status.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-6) Sameer Shaikh ensured strong security arrangements, enabling the eviction process to proceed smoothly and without major law-and-order issues.

A team of approximately 400 personnel from various departments was deployed for the operation, including officials from the Suburban Administration, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Police Department, Public Works Department, and Revenue authorities.

Key officials involved in the drive included Additional District Collector Padmakar Rokade, Deputy District Collector Asha Tamkhede, Sub-Divisional Officer Kalpana Gode, Assistant Commissioner Ujjwal Ingole, and senior police and municipal officers.

The administration reiterated that strict action will continue against unauthorised constructions and illegal encroachments, with a focus on safeguarding government land and maintaining planned urban development.
