Mumbai’s local governance is undergoing a notable generational transition, as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections have ushered in a wave of young leaders.

As many as 12 newly elected corporators are from Gen Z, aged between 22-29.

This batch of young corporators comprise doctors, MBAs, social workers and designers along with some having political heirs. They want to solve the problems of the ward through technology and a fresh approach.

The youngest corporator is Kashish Fulwaria, elected from Ward 151. She is the daughter of former corporator Rajesh Phulwaria. Kashish, who holds a BMS degree, is currently pursuing an MBA. Her ward includes areas such as Thakkar Bappa Colony in Chembur and Chandivali.

Despite the presence of some elderly corporators, the majority of members are middle-aged.
