Central Railway’s (CR) Mumbai Division has posted a strong revenue performance in April 2026, achieving total earnings of Rs 570.42 Cr as compared to Rs 528.17 Cr in April 2025, marking an 8% increase over the corresponding month last year. The growth was driven by improved performance across coaching, sundry, and ticket checking segments, reflecting sustained passenger demand and enhanced revenue realization efforts.
Revenue from Coaching & Ticket Checking
The total coaching revenue for April 2026 stood at Rs 353.06 Cr against Rs 320.60 Cr in April 2025, an increase of 10.12%. Other coaching revenue showed remarkable growth of 41.26%, rising to Rs 50.33 Cr from Rs 35.63 Cr last year.
Mumbai division’s focus on ticket checking drives also yielded significant results, with ticket checking revenue surging by 165.89% to Rs 16.13 Cr as against Rs 6.07 Cr in April 2025.
Non-Fare Revenue sources
On the non-fare revenue front, Mumbai division recorded total sundry revenue of Rs 13.44 Cr in April 2026, which is 15.63% higher than Rs 11.62 Cr achieved in April 2025. Specifically, non-fare revenue reached Rs 10.27 Cr, up 32.38% from Rs 7.76 Cr in April 2025, aided by several innovative initiatives.
To boost non-fare revenue, the Division has taken the following measures:
•Out of Home (OOH) hoarding contracts at Thane, Panvel, Trombay and Targhar stations, realizing Rs.3.55 Cr for a period of 5 years.
•Three contracts for exterior vinyl wrapping of EMU rakes were awarded for Rs.88.69 lakh for 5 years.
•New advertising contracts were finalized for Train No. 22229 Vande Bharat Express — Rs.15 lakh per annum for backside advertisement of food/snack trays in trains and Rs.16.83 lakh per annum for headrest advertising, both for 3 years. Additionally, interior advertising in Train No. 22177/78 Mahanagari Express will generate Rs.13.22 lakh per annum for 5 years.
•Rail Display Network (RDN) contracts have been awarded at Nilje and Targhar stations for Rs.8.50 lakh per annum for 3 years.
•Further a gaming zone facility between Dombivli and Thakurli stations for Rs.16.12 lakh for 5 years, and four new waiting room-cum-canteen contracts at Kalyan Railway Hospital, NGSM goods shed, Kalamboli goods shed and Taloja Goods shed for Rs.8.84 lakh per annum for 5 years have also been awarded.
•Three grocery/photocopier store contracts at LTT, Kasara and Vasind stations will bring Rs.49.33 lakh per annum for 5 years.
•Other initiatives include relaxation massage chairs at Matheran station for Rs 2 lakh per annum for 3 years and
•Emergency Medical Room (EMR) facilities at Bhandup, Dadar, Kanjurmarg, Vithalwadi and Dombivli stations for Rs.9.16 lakh for 5 years.
The revenue growth in April 2026 reflects Central Railway’s focus on passenger services, operational efficiency, and innovative non-fare initiatives.
