Post Andheri’s Gokhale bridge collapse incident — which claimed two lives, Asmita Katkar and Manoj Mehta — the structural audit was carried out by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) and Indian Railways. Opposition leader Ravi Raja brought to the notice of the standing committee that despite the audit, no repair work was done and 18 flyovers and pedestrian bridges were still in bad condition.

Raja demanded that Railways should produce the detailed report of utilisation of ₹114 Cr to the BMC. He added that Dadar’s Tilak bridge and Elphinstone bridge are on the verge of falling down and in need of urgent repair.

Shiv Sena's Sada Parab seconded Raja adding that the 40-year-old bridge near Tansa pipeline situated near Vakola is also in weak condition and repair work is still on papers.

Meanwhile, Leader of the house Vishakha Raut said that the structural audit was a farce and no officials actually carried out an audit.

Taking members’ demands into consideration, Standing Committee Chairman Yashwant Jadhav directed the administration to hand over the structural audit report of all flyovers and pedestrian bridges to the civic body.
