Water supply to Mumbra, Diva, Kalwa, Majivda-Manpada and some parts of Wagle Ward Committee in Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) area is provided by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
Considering the possibility of delaying the monsoon due to the effects of El Nino and IOD (Indian Ocean Dipole), a decision has been taken to reduce water to avoid possible water shortage.
As per the decision taken in the review meeting held with the Water Resources Department on May 14, water supply from MIDC's Jambhul Water Treatment Plant will be closed for a total of 24 hours from 12 noon on June 4 to 12 noon on June 5.
During this shutdown period, water supply will remain completely closed in all parts of Diva, Mumbra (except some parts of Ward No. 26 and 31) and Kalwa Ward Committee in Thane Municipal Corporation area.
Water supply will also remain suspended in Rupadevi Pada, Kisannagar No. 2, Nehru Nagar and Kolshet Khalcha village in Manpada ward of Wagle ward committee.
According to the information provided by the Municipal Corporation, even after the water supply is restored, there is a possibility of water supply at low pressure for the next one to two days.
Owing to this, the Thane civic body has appealed to the citizens to use only the required amount of water, store water and cooperate with the Municipal Corporation by using water sparingly during the water cut period.
It is pertinent to note that TMC announced 12-hour water cut in several parts of the city on June 3.
