Self-Help Groups (Mahila Bachat Gat) and educated unemployed institutions have been provided with 50 per cent and 25 per cent reservation respectively in the parking lots contract. In the policy, the administration has decided to include a reservation of three per cent for disabled people.

Disregarding the monopoly of old contractors in the parking contract, according to the approved policy, 50 per cent of the total parking spaces have been reserved for women's self-help groups. 25 per cent of the rest have been reserved for registered educated unemployed institutions and 25 per cent for the open category. Accordingly, the tender process is being implemented at present.

Currently, there are a total of 91 parking lots in Mumbai which have the capacity to house 11, 271 vehicles. There are 54 parking lots in the 'A' section. However, while the institution of women's savings groups and educated unemployed organisations have been kept reserved, now the municipal administration has created the policy of keeping three per cent seats for the disabled. The plan has been put forward to policy reform committee for approval.

They demanded a meeting with MLA Bachu Kadu to implement the Divya Act, 1995 for the protection of the rights of people with disabilities. Regarding the demand, the administration has decided to keep 3 per cent reservation for disabled people in the parking area.
