The BMC has issued a tender to connect the broken stretch of the pedestrian and cycling path under the Mumbai Coastal Road Project.

According to the tender, a 320–325 metre section of the walkway between Lotus Jetty in Worli and the Badoda Palace building will be connected. The estimated cost of the work is INR 9.64 crore, and the civic body aims to complete the project within six months.

The 7.5-km footpath and road on the Coastal Road was opened to citizens round-the-clock from August 15. This includes the 5.25-km stretch from Priyadarshini Park to Haji Ali and from Badoda Palace to Worli, as well as the section between Poonam Chambers and the Worli bowstring arch bridge.

Of the 111 hectares of reclaimed land created for the Coastal Road, 70 hectares have been reserved for open spaces, theme zones, and pedestrian walkways. Currently, the walkway is split into two parts: Priyadarshini Park to Lotus Jetty, and Badoda Palace to J. K. Kapur Chowk in Worli. The BMC has now decided to link these two sections by bridging the 325-metre gap.

Once completed, the continuous pedestrian path will be 7.25 to 7.5 km long, making it twice the length of the Marine Drive promenade. Its width will range from 8 to 20 metres. A 2-metre-wide cycling track is also proposed along the new 325-metre stretch.
