Blast reported at BPCL; Workers feared to be trapped

On Wednesday, a blast followed by fire was reported in BPCL refinery's Hydrocracker Unit, Chembur. Initially, four to five workers were reported injured in the incident. Around 4:15 pm, 21 workers were reported to be injured and one is said to critical.

70 per cent fire is said to be under control. It was a level three fire where seven fire engines, two foam tenders, and two jumbo tankers were sent to the area, informed CFO Prabhat Rahangdale. The Mumbai Fire Brigade department is trying their best to douse the fire.

The explosion was so intense that tremors were felt till Deonar. No casualties have been reported so far.
