Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal informed the State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, July 8, that an inquiry has been ordered into alleged illegal construction on a plot of land in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) F/South Ward.
According to the minister, a preliminary inquiry found that an unauthorized hotel is operating on the site and that the property has outstanding municipal property tax dues.
Responding to a Calling Attention Motion moved by MLA Ajay Chaudhary, in the presence of MLA Ram Kadam, Misal said the state government would direct the BMC to immediately stop the ongoing construction and initiate action to shut down the unauthorized hotel.
She also assured the House that a comprehensive investigation would be carried out into the matter.
Misal stated that strict disciplinary action would be taken against any officials found responsible for irregularities. She added that criminal cases would be registered wherever warranted based on the findings of the inquiry.
