Malad- The defence ministry has relaxed its construction ban around defence lands, bringing a respite to stranded families living in dilapidated buildings around the army's Central ordnance depots in Kandivli and Malad. These families were not allowed to redevelop their buildings because the local military authority (LMA) refused to issue no objection certificates (NOC). The defence ministry has relaxed its construction ban around defence lands to just 10 metres. MP Gopal Shetty, MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar and Kandivali’s COD affected residents followed with the state government for the same. “I have been staying as a homeless since 5 years now because of the COD issues. But now I am happy with the circular as I will get home on my name”, said Adiyta Pathak, resident.
