Mumbai Local News: 'Mumbra Devi' Signboard Displayed at Mumbra Station Sparks Renaming Debate

In a startling incident, a signboard with the words "Mumbra Devi" was seen installed at the Mumbra Railway Station. Following the incident, the police removed the signboard and a case was registered at the Mumbra Railway Protection Force (RPF) Police Station.

For the past several years, there has been a demand to name the Mumbra railway station of Central Railway as 'Mumbra Devi'. The reason behind this demand is that there is a temple of Mumbra Devi adjacent to the Mumbra railway station. That is why the demand to name this station as Mumbra Devi has been gaining momentum for the past several years.

After repeated applications and requests, no decision was taken, on Monday night, September 22, an unknown person pasted a sticker with the word 'Mumbra Devi' on the Mumbra Railway board at Mumbra railway station. After this matter came to light, these stickers were immediately removed and police have been deployed at the place. The police are also searching for the person through the CCTV footage at the station.

Mumbra station, located on the Central Railway line, is a vital rail hub. Shilphata, in the Mumbra area, also has warehouses. Therefore, businesses also operate their cargo from here. Slow local trains stop here, attracting millions of passengers. 

Meanwhile, it is pertinent to note that the majority of Mumbra's population is Muslim.
