The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) will operate 236 additional bus services during Bandra Fair 2026, popularly known as the Mount Mary Yatra, to manage the expected rush of devotees and visitors in Mumbai.
The special bus arrangements will be in place from September 13 to 20, coinciding with the annual feast at Mount Mary Church and events around the adjoining Father Agnel Ashram premises.
A large number of visitors are expected to reach Bandra West Railway Station by suburban trains before heading towards the Mount Mary feast.
With heavy pedestrian and vehicular movement expected near the church, BEST buses will not operate directly up to the Mount Mary Church during the festival period. Instead, the additional services will connect Bandra Railway Station (West) with Hill Road Garden.
Passengers travelling to the feast venue will need to walk the remaining distance from Hill Road Garden to Mount Mary Church.
According to a press note issued by BEST Public Relations Officer Sunil Vaidya on September 11, the additional services have been planned to accommodate the increased passenger demand during the week-long celebration.
BEST will also deploy bus inspectors and traffic officers at Bandra West Station and other important points in the area throughout the feast.
The staff will help regulate bus movement, assist passengers and manage traffic-related issues as crowds build up around the festival venues.
BEST has advised devotees and other visitors to use the additional bus services while travelling to and from the Bandra Fair.
BEST will run its highest number of extra services on September 13 and September 19.
On both days, 10 additional buses will operate during the morning and another 10 during the evening, covering five routes.
The services will include:
Morning services will run from 8 am to 4 pm, while evening services will operate from 3 pm to midnight.
On September 14, 15 and 17, BEST will operate a smaller number of additional services, with six extra buses in the morning and six in the evening across four routes.
The additional buses will operate on:
Morning services on these three days will operate from 8 am to 4 pm, while evening services will run from 2 pm to 11 pm.
