For the last few years, Mumbai Dabbawalas, who have been tirelessly delivering tiffins to Mumbaikars at their doorstep, are now demanding a bicycle stand outside railway stations.

Usually, Dabbawalas deliver tiffins either by riding a bicycle or by traveling in the train’s luggage compartment. However, many times, they don’t get place to park their bicycles outside railway stations due to lack of space and rush. Hence, Shiv Sena corporator Datta Narvankar raised the issue of Dabbawalas and demanded a bicycle stand in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) general body meeting.

Every day, Dabbawalas travel from Churchgate to Virar and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM) to Kalyan to deliver tiffins. Some of them also travel to Navi Mumbai for the same.
