The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that water supply will be disrupted in some areas of M East and M West wards on Monday, May 18, from 10 am to 10 pm due to commissioning work of the Amar Mahal (Hedgewar Udyan) to Turbhe low-level reservoir water tunnel underway.

The affected wards include areas such as Chembur East and West, Govandi, and Mankhurd.

The BMC has urged citizens of the two wards to filter and boil water for consumption for seven days — from May 18, 2026, to May 25, 2026 — as a precautionary measure.

It is pertinent to note that this is in addition to the already imposed 10 per cent water cut across Mumbai. This reduction is a precautionary measure amid rapidly depleting reservoir levels and expectations of a delayed monsoon. The water cut will remain in force until rainfall improves and reservoir levels recover sufficiently.

The civic body has urged housing societies and residents to prevent wastage of water. Citizens have been advised to limit vehicle washing, avoid excessive watering of gardens, restrict swimming pool usage, repair household leakages without delay and store only the required amount of water.
