In an attempt to address the increasing demand for sake parking spaces for residents and office-goers in Mumbai's bustling vicinity, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is considering introducing an on-street parking facility with CCTV surveillance in its four wards, reported the Hindustan Times.

Based on the account, this will be the BMC's first-of-its-kind pilot project to permit residents to park their vehicles in a safe space. The civic authority has reportedly earmarked locations such as Nepeansea Road in D-ward, G (south) ward in Worli, K (west) ward in Andheri West, and Powai-Bhandup’s S-ward.

According to the narratives, nearly 34 roads will be taken for the project from the D ward that will act as model roads for the pay and park scheme. These reportedly include Nepeansea Road from August Kranti Marg to LD Ruparel Marg and Ridge Road from Hanging Garden to Kemps Corner.

On the other hand, in the K West ward, more than 50 roads will be taken. Some of these entails, the 2nd cross lane, Millat Nagar, Lokhandwala complex and Oshiwara Park Road. Likewise, in the G south ward, 35 roads such as SS Amritvar Marg, Tulsi pipe road and Ganpatrao Kadam Marg will be pay-and-park. In S ward 34 roads such as Cliff Avenue Road and High Street Road have been selected, mentioned the account.

The narrative suggests that while the responsibility to maintain the parking lots will be on the societies, the civic authority will monitor them on CCTVs. The parking demand is anticipated to be worked out in accordance with one car parking space per flat of the building.
