Post the Kamala Mills fire incident, where 14 people lost their lives in Mojo’s Bistro and 1 Above due to suffocation, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asked Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Ajoy Mehta to form a committee and look into the matter. Mehta informed that the report will be ready by Friday and will be submitted to the CM.

I am being pressurised from all sides but I will continue with my investigation as CM has entrusted me with the responsibility. If the CM asks me to stop the investigation, then I will do so. Until then will continue and will submit the report by Friday,” Ajoy Mehta, BMC Commissioner.

Prior to the demolition of illegal structures in Kamala Mills, the BMC commissioner received many such complaints but the BMC did not do anything. And so Mehta called people who had such complaints who visited him and spoke about the illegal structures.

People are registering their complaints via email or by meeting me personally. We hear out complaints on Monday and I know it is not sufficient. I will hear out the complaints on Friday as well,” Ajoy Mehta, BMC Commissioner.

However, Mehta refused to reveal the names of the complainants and said that these names are confidential.
