Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has planned to organise an event in regard to the plastic ban carried out by the Maharashtra government earlier and has invited Bollywood stars, Ajay Devgan and Kajol.

The purpose of the event is to initiate a discussion about finding the alternative usage to plastic and it will be organised at the National Sports Club of India (NSCI) in Worli. Earlier in September 2017, the solid waste management department organised ‘Great Exhibition of Solid Waste Process and Tools’ at NSCI.

With the plastic ban already announced in the state, its strict implementation will be from June 23 and penalties will be imposed on both the user and the producer.

In the event, the solution and alternatives to plastic will be exhibited, such as paper packing bags instead of plastic polyethene, to create public awareness.
