The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a fresh tender worth nearly INR 3 crore for renovation work at the official residence of the Mayor of Mumbai, despite having completed renovation works at the property just a few months ago.

The mayor's bungalow, a heritage building located inside the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan premises in Byculla, is set to undergo another round of repairs and refurbishment. The proposed work includes structural repairs, restoration, interior improvements, and other maintenance-related upgrades.

The latest tender comes only a few months after the civic body reportedly spent around INR 2.4 crore on renovation and restoration of the same bungalow. The move has raised questions over the need for additional expenditure on the property within such a short period.

According to civic officials, the proposed work is aimed at preserving and maintaining the heritage structure. However, the fresh expenditure is expected to draw criticism from opposition parties, who are likely to question the use of public funds for repeated renovations of the mayor's official residence.
