Maharashtra is currently observing a lockdown due to the rising COVID-19 cases. Strict guidelines have been imposed to ensure the spread of the virus is contained. Keeping the same in mind, the state government has asked all the restaurants and bars to remain closed and had permitted only delivery services to function.
Easing the same, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has now allowed 24x7 delivery services for restaurants in mumbai. BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, stated that essential supplies and food items can now be delivered round the clock using the online delivery models.
However, in-person take away options from the restaurants will remain closed over the weekends during the lockdown. Customers can choose to order online for delivery. Street food vendors can also offer take away on the weekends. This decision has been taken to avoid crowding at specific areas in the city.
On the other hand, the timings for house helps has also been regulated. As per revised guidelines, cooks, maids, nurses and other support staff can only be allowed between 7am and 10pm.
The state has witnessed a significant rise in COVID-19 cases, and the government has decided to cancel examinations for state board students from Class 1-8, 9 and 11. However, if a student has any other examination to attend, they can choose to travel by the train. One guardian is allowed to accompany and the student will have to carry the hall ticket for the same.
CM Uddhav Thackeray-led government, on Sunday, April 4, 2021, announced strict guidelines as a part of the new lockdown, basis which some areas like gardens, beaches etc will remain closed on the weekends from 8pm on Friday to 7am on Monday. However, on weekdays, these will remain closed from 8pm to 7am.
Offices have been asked to encourage work from home and only essential services are allowed to function.
