Mumbai – The BMC has decided to reuse the treated sewage water and for this seven treatment centres will be opened to meet the target of 2000 MLD treated water, informed municipal commissioner Ajoy Mehta on Wednesday. These sewage water treatment plants will come up at Colaba, Worli, Versova, Ghatkopar, Bandra and Juhu. The city gets water supply from seven lakes around the city. To meet the growing demand of potable water, work for Gargai and Pinjal dams is being taken up. The citizens will have to wait for a long time to get water from these projects, accepted the municipal commissioner.
There is no civic hospital in the western suburbs. This forces the people to rush to the main civic hospital. To lessen the inconvenience of citizens, the BMC has planned to open four civic hospitals in the western suburbs and a budgetary allocation of Rs 1,500 crore has been made and tenders for this will be opened soon, informed Mehta.
