A five-storey fish market will soon be set up in Mumbai. This international fish market will be equipped with local culture and modern facilities.

This five-storey market will be set up in J.B. Nagar, Andheri and is expected to cost INR 138 crore. The design of this market has been finalized and its approval process is in the final stage.

Along with improving the condition of local fish markets, quality facilities are being provided to fishermen and sellers. As a part of this, an international standard fish market equipped with modern facilities will be set up in Mumbai.

The biggest problem in the fish market is the leftover fish pieces and waste. However, the help of 'AI' will be taken to dispose of this waste, and underground garbage bins and smart sensors will be used.

Solar panels will also be included in the building to make the building self-sufficient in terms of electricity.

It is just two kilometres from the international airport and is also close to a metro station. The market building will be eco-friendly with minimal waste generation.

The facilities include:

  • Dried fish market
  • Museum
  • Cold storage
  • Koli Bhavan
  • Samaj Sabha Restaurant
  • Training centre
  • Parking for 70 vehicles
