The rooftop area at Sky City Mall in Borivali, which went viral on social media recently for its scenic view of Mumbai suburbs, has been temporarily closed to visitors due to overcrowding. The mall itself will be open, but access to the rooftop has been stopped for now.

The rooftop was known for its open-air setting, city skyline views, and relaxed atmosphere and had recently become a major attraction. Many visitors were drawn to the space, especially during weekends and evening hours. Over time, the number of people visiting the rooftop became too much.

Mall authorities saw that the foot traffic was more than the space could safely manage. This raised issues related to crowd control and visitor safety. As a precaution, the decision was taken to temporarily close the rooftop to the general public.

Earlier, the mall management had already announced a new access policy for the rooftop. The statement noted that from February 5, 2026, entry to the rooftop would be limited to guests with confirmed dining reservations. The goal was to limit the number of people and make a smoother experience.

In an official statement, the management acknowledged the strong public response to the rooftop. It said maintaining safety and service standards was the main priority. The statement added that controlled access would help manage visits better and prevent overcrowding.

Authorities are expected to review crowd management arrangements before reopening the rooftop under the updated access system. All other shopping and entertainment areas within Sky City Mall remain open to the public.
