Mumbai Local News: Central Railway enhances passenger amenities at "These" stations

Central Railway (CR) continues its commitment to provide better passenger convenience and safety by enhancing station amenities across its network. Significant upgrades and installations have been carried out to ensure a comfortable, accessible, and seamless travel experience for all commuters.

Key highlights of amenities provided by Mumbai division in the month of October 2025 are as under:

PASSENGER COMFORT 

1. Escalators:

•4 escalators have been provided which includes 2 escalators each at Dombivili (platform no 3&4) and Kurla(platform no 5&6) stations.

2. BLDC Fans & Air circulator fans:

•92 additional Brushless Direct Current(BLDC) fans have been provided at various stations. BLDC fans are fans that use a brushless DC motor which is more energy efficient and makes less noise than the conventiona induction motor fans. They use electronic controllers and permanent magnets instead of the carbon brushes, which significantly reduces energy consumption by 50 to 70 %.

•33 new additional Air circulator fans have been provided at various station. These air circulators create a continuous & consistent air circulation unlike the conventional fans that blow air in o­ne direction o­nly. 

3. New Energy efficient LED tube lights:

•386 LED tube lights have been provided at various stations. These Led tube lights are energy efficient with longer lifespan and reduced maintenance and replacement costs. They provide better illumination and are environment friendly. 

PASSENGER INFORMATION:

GPS clocks & Public address system

•One GPS tower clock have been installed at Uran station.

•Public Address System at Matunga station has been upgraded to IP based system with 35 speakers for clear & better reach of information 

PASSENGER TICKETING:

Mobile UTS Sahayaks

•Facility of Mobile UTS Sahayaks has been introduced o­n Central Railway with 3 Sahayaks operating at CSMT. Provided with a mobile phone and a small ticket printing machine strapped o­n themselves, these M-UTS Sahayaks go from person to person waiting o­n the concourse or in the holding areas or o­n railway premises and issue tickets o­n payment of the ticket fare. 

Central Railway remains steadfast in its efforts to upgrade station facilities, incorporating modern technology and infrastructure improvements to enhance the overall travel experience. These initiatives are aligned with the vision of a passenger-friendly railway network, emphasizing accessibility, convenience, and safety.
