The Central Railway (CR) soon will demolish 166 illegal religious structures which are built on its premises. These structures are primarily located along the main line’s CSTM-Kasara route and CSTM-Panvel corridor on the harbour lines.
Senior CR official told Hindustan Times,
The high court has allowed demolishing of all illegal religious structures that have been constructed inside the premises. We also have support from the police and the civic body.”
The same was decided after the High Court passed the order of demolishing and removing unauthorised illegal structures situated within the jurisdiction of government and municipal corporation.
Along with this, HC has given a months time to people who operate these illegal structures to submit their objections/requests.
CR to demolish temples, churches, mosques, and gurudwaras in Byculla, Kurla, Mankhurd, Kalyan, Panvel, Parel, GTB, and Thane.
