Development works at railway stations in Maharashtra under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme are progressing at a rapid pace. Till date, improvement works at 15 stations in the state have been completed—namely Amgaon, Chanda Fort, Chinchpokli, Devlali, Dhule, Kedgaon, Lasalgaon, Lonand Junction, Matunga, Murtizapur Junction, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Itwari Junction, Parel, Savda, Shahad and Vadala Road. The Ministry of Railways, under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, is undertaking long-term, phased redevelopment of railway stations across the country, with 132 stations in Maharashtra included among the 1337 stations identified nationwide.

Further, development / upgradation / modernization of stations including Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is generally funded under Plan Head-53 ‘Customer Amenities’. The details of allocation and expenditure under Plan Head-53 are maintained Zonal Railway-wise and not work-wise or station-wise or state-wise. The state of Maharashtra is covered under the jurisdiction of four railway zones, namely, Central Railway, South Central Railway, South East Central Railway and Western Railway. For the last three years and the current year, ₹ 11,190 crore has been allocated while an expenditure of ₹ 9,198 crore has been incurred during the last three years and current year (up to October, 2025).
