In a significant step towards streamlining railway operations in Navi Mumbai, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has formally transferred Targhar, Bamandongari and Kharkopar railway stations, along with associated railway infrastructure, to Central Railway.
The handover ceremony was conducted in the presence of Member of Parliament Naresh Mhaske, a member of the Railway Coordination Committee. CIDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Ashwin Mudgal formally handed over the assets to Central Railway officials.
CIDCO Joint Managing Director Dr Raja Dayanidhi, along with senior officials from CIDCO and Central Railway, attended the event.
The transfer includes key railway assets such as station buildings, station forecourts, commuter parking facilities, electrical substations, telecom systems and other supporting infrastructure. With the completion of the transfer process, Central Railway will assume responsibility for station operations, maintenance, passenger safety and service management.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashwin Mudgal said that CIDCO has played a pivotal role in developing railway infrastructure across Navi Mumbai. He described the transfer as a major milestone that will contribute to more efficient station management and enhanced passenger services.
The move marks an important phase in the integration of Navi Mumbai’s railway infrastructure into the Central Railway network, ensuring streamlined administration and long-term operational efficiency.
