Mumbai may be the 'City of Dreams' but the roads of the city can surely be a nightmare for the citizens. On one hand, as people have been complaining for years about the issue of potholes, a senior Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official has recently made a claim that he does not see potholes on the roads.

And just when you wonder it couldn't get any more bizarre, know this. The statement came from BMC's standing committee chairman, Yashwant Jadhav, who says he hasn't seen any potholes in the metropolitan.

There is not a single pothole in Mumbai. You show me one single pothole. I travel every day on the Mumbai city roads. I don't see potholes. If there are any, it could be due to metro construction, but I can assure you there is not a single pothole,"  Yashwant Jadhav said.

Jadhav also said that if anyone is able to spot a pothole, it will be fixed within two hours. As bizarre as the claim sounds, on a serious note, the issue of potholes has been a pressing issue for Mumbai. Till now, seven people have lost their lives in incidents related to potholes and several Mumbaikars have been injured.

Earlier, BMC had been issuing notices to citizens to not fill potholes on their own and even warning that this is a punishable offense. Having received flak for the same, BMC then announced that they will work in tandem with citizens to fill all the necessary potholes in the city.
