Commuters beat up eight-months pregnant woman in a handicap coach

On Wednesday, a pregnant woman of eight months was beaten up by two passengers in a handicap compartment after they asked the woman to show the handicap ID-card. When other commuters intervened, the miscreants got down from the running train on the platform.

Vitthalwadi resident Dinesh Tiwari and his eight months pregnant wife had gone to Cama hospital for a check-up. On Wednesday, the duo boarded 7:01 pm Karjat train from CSTM. When the local reached Kurla, two abled passengers got in the handicap coach and asked the couple to show their handicap ID-card. When the woman informed about her pregnancy, the two alleged passengers started beating up the husband and when his wife intervened, they beat her up as well.

After this incident, Tiwari filed a complaint at Dombivali’s GRP where the couple was made to sit for many hours. After which the GRP filed a non-cognisable offence.
