Dharam Veer Meena, General Manager, Central Railway, conducted a detailed safety inspection of the Igatpuri - Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) section of Mumbai Division on March 23, 2025.
Dharam Veer Meena, commenced the safety inspection with Igatpuri station with inspection of Rolling in/ Rolling out hut, Route Relay Interlocking cabin and Water Treatment Plant.
Meena also inaugurated the Combined Crew Lobby and the “Varuna” system for Vendor verification, released a booklet on Signal failure and rectification for improved reliability and distributed application-specific Tablets for S&T supervisors to enhance operational efficiency.
The General Manager also reviewed the various passenger amenities, cleanliness and food stalls at Igatpuri station.
The General Manager also inspected the Thal Ghat Reversal (TGR) stretch no. 2 & 3 on the Igatpuri-Kasara section.
On TGR-2 Meena inspected the Minor bridge no 131/8, Catch siding, Turnout no 103 at Kms 131/48, Switch Expansion Joint no 4 along with TGR-2 Cabin.
A Power Point Presentation regarding Platform Deep Screening, Underwater inspection and presentation on Special work being done in the Ghats and a detailed demonstration of Hill Gang working were also made in presence of the General Manager.
Meena also inspected the Remote Diagnostic and Predictive Maintenance System of the Signal & Telecommunications department and checked the adequacy of communication systems in the difficult terrain.
A demonstration of the latest innovations and modifications made operational by Mumbai Division was also presented before the General Manager.
The General Manager inspected Tunnel 5C & Curve no 19 on the TGR-2 & TGR-3 section and inaugurated Gang unit no 11. This was followed by a detailed inspection of Major Bridge-Rotanda Girder Bridge on the TGR-3 & Kasara section to ensure structural integrity and operational efficiency.
The General Manager inspected the Subway at Level crossing gate no 76 on the Kasara-Umbermali section, and issued important instructions and guidelines to ensure the safety and convenience of passengers.
The General Manager also inspected the Level crossing gate no 69 and took a detailed note of safety measures taken at the Tambadmal Traction Substation on the Atgaon-Asangaon section. He also inspected the safety gears used by the OHE staff, ensuring adherence to safety protocols for smooth and secure railway operations.
He also released a booklet on Knowledge update for the maintainers as a ready reference for corrective measures.
He also reviewed the status of 3rd & 4th line work between Kalyan-Kasara & Kalyan Asangaon.
At Asangaon station Meena inspected the Station Booking office, New RPF Post, Railway Staff Colony and Garden enhanced security, staff welfare, and passenger convenience.
At Kalyan, the General Manager reviewed the remodelling and segregation work of Kalyan Yard, inspected the Kalyan Railway Hospital and inaugurated the New Course Content and renovated classroom at the Advanced Training Centre, Kalyan.
This was followed by a High Speed Run reaching upto 120kmph on UP Fast line Between Kalyan and Dadar.
The General Manager also met representatives of the Pravasi Sangh and interacted with them. He also engaged with ground-level staff throughout the inspection, emphasizing the importance of safe train operations and operational efficiency.
Hiresh Mina, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Division, Principal Head of Departments and Senior Officers from Headquarters and Mumbai Division accompanied during the inspection.
